Paper Pumpkin – July 2022

Every 4th Sunday each month, we gather on Zoom to assemble our Paper Pumpkin kits. This month’s kit “Sending Good Thoughts” had a nautical theme. There were 3 different designs, 3 cards of each design for a total of 9 cards.

In addition to the cards from the kit, I made 2 alternative cards using the stamp set from the kit.

The first card – I used half of the wave stamp from Waves of Inspiration and stamped across the bottom a few times using Balmy Blue ink on a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of white cardstock. Then I continued with the same color and used my Blending Brush to cover the rest of the card for the sky. I carefully made a channel along the top of the wave for the ship to sail. I stamped the sentiment from the kit stamps in Balmy Blue and added the seagulls from the On the Horizon (retired) stamp set in Smoky Slate. After stamping & fussy cutting the ship, I adhered 4 small dimensionals to the back, 2 stacked together (keep backing on the second layer). Using the Foam Adhesive strips, I adhered the back around the cut-out channel making sure there was enough room for the ship to move, then put a scrap piece of white cardstock (also used blending brush & Balmy Blue ink to color) over the outlined channel. I added dimensionals to the rest of the back of the card front and adhered it to a piece of 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ of Basic Gray cardstock, scored at 4 1/4″ & folded in half.

The second card – I took a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of white cardstock, masked off the top section and using Balmy Blue ink & a blending brush to color the “sky”. I moved the masking tape up to cover the sky and used Pool Party ink & blending brush to color the “water”. Then I stamped “sand” using Crumb Cake ink and one of the stamps from the Oceanfront set stamped across the bottom. I stamped the seagull from the Waves of Inspiration set in the “sky” with Smoky Slate ink. Using the Bottled Happiness bundle, I stamped a bottle using Basic Gray ink on a 3″ x 2″ scrap piece of white cardstock and used the punch on the card front. I stamped a scroll using Sahara Sand ink from the Paper Pumpkin stamps, fussy cut it then added a few lines in the middle using my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend. I adhered the top of the bottle dome to the back of the card front, added Effervescent Elements and the scroll into the dome then adhered the back of the bottle to the front of the stamped 3″ x 2″ stamped bottled image. I adhered the card front to a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ & folded in half. The card was finished off with the sentiment from the Paper Pumpkin stamps in Daffodil Delight and cut out using the Layer circles die with a scalloped circle in Daffodil Delight underneath & adhered using dimensionals.

One of my Paper Pumpkin subscribers asked about scrapbooking, so I decided to do a scrapbook page for each Paper Pumpkin kit. Here is the first one. I masked & colored a 12″ x 12″ piece of white cardstock, added stamped images from the stamps in the kit, used blending brushes with Pacific Point & Fresh Freesia inks and the leftover piece from the die cut coral (make sure you mask around the image so that you don’t get ink elsewhere), then added some pictures mounted on various scraps of cardstock to complete the page.
